“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace” – 1 Peter 4:10

Are you considering serving the church? The gospel makes us all servants. According to Scripture, we are created, called, and saved to serve (Ephesians 2:10). Moreover, God the Holy Spirit provides all believers with spiritual gifts for the purpose of service (1 Peter 4:10).

The Church, in many ways, is to reflect the Kingdom of God. In God’s Kingdom the first are last and the last are first (Mark 10:31). Jesus teaches his disciples that true greatness in his kingdom is reserved for those who are servants of all. At Legacy, we desire to take that statement seriously and see our community serve one another for their good and God’s fame.

Ultimately, as a community redeemed by the grace of Jesus, we serve as a natural reaction to our new identity in Christ. The beauty of the Savior is that He is and always will be the greatest servant. Yet, his service is not just an example to follow, for it was through His act of service that we find salvation by grace. He is the perfect example, but not just an example. He is the Savior. Because He has served us in saving us from our sin, we are motivated to serve one another.
